The 30.06 Philosophy

30.06 On Target logoA quality-driven philosophy from producer to consumer is evident in every program that Certified Angus Beef LLC (CAB) develops.

The “Thirty-Aught-Six” (30.06) Program is designed to recognize those feedlots and producers who have groups of cattle that have exceeded the standard for carcass merit.

The term “30.06” refers to enrolled cattle that achieve at least 30% Certified Angus Beef ® or Prime qualifying rate with an allowance for 3% Yield Grade 4s and 3% heavy carcasses weighing 1,000 lb. or more. These are the full requirements:

  1. 10 head minimum group size
  2. 50% CAB Eligibility within sort groups.
  3. Must achieve at least a 30% Prime + CABacceptance rate.
  4. Must meet these criteria relative to discount carcasses:

Cattle don’t just amble into this elite achievement every day. Since starting the program only five CAB-licensed feedlots have fed more than 500 head that met the 30.06 mark, truly a mark of excellence.

Producers and feedlots are recognized for their efforts by having 30.06 cattle featured in the CAB Brand News section of the Angus Journal, and feedlots are further rewarded after feeding 500, 1,000 and 2,000 cumulative head of 30.06 qualifying cattle.

These feedlots have reached the milestone levels within the 30.06 award program to date:
